They provide their members with coaches and programs that are free of monotonous routines. They offer different challenges and obstacles every day that will help their members grow both mentally and physically.
They believe that what separates them from other gyms is fitness, nutrition, and accountability. In the traditional gym model, anyone can workout assuming they know what they are doing. However, no one is there to make sure they are fueling a body that is meant to move and not accumulate body fat.
According to them, one of the biggest mistakes that people can make when exercising is having a lack of knowledge. This can result in a variety of mistakes. However, this is not the person’s fault as they simply do not know. To avoid this, it is important that they invest in themselves and get a coach. All the top athletes like Michael Jordan and even big Hollywood actors have coaches to help them get those insane transformations. At Flatbush CrossFit, they have a reservation system for group classes. This allows them to limit the number of people who come in for a group class. Through this, they ensure a safe, fun and intimate session with their trainer and classmates. They also do not have rows of treadmills or other fancy equipment. They believe that one’s own body is the machine and they teach you how to operate it.
For their group classes, they use pull-up bars, kettlebells, barbells and wide-open space for squatting, running, jumping, climbing, lifting and throwing. Ultimately, all their workouts involve exercises that mimic movements performed in day-to-day life and/or sport. All of the exercises can be scaled and adjusted to accommodate any and all fitness levels.
Flatbush CrossFit’s program is designed to improve one’s capacity in ten different fitness domains: Endurance, Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Coordination, Agility, Balance, and Accuracy. Flatbush CrossFit offers different programs to its members: BK60, BK45, BK30, Foundations, and Weighlifting.
BK60 is high-intensity training. Workouts combine a variety of functional movements, from cardio and gymnastics to powerlifting and Olympic lifting. Foundations course is required for this program. In the BK45 program, it allows the member to build one's base and get strong. Workouts always include strength & skill training followed by an interval workout. BK30, on the other hand, is fast-paced and fun. Workouts combine simple bodyweight, gymnastics, and light lifting movements for a high-energy workout. Both BK45 and BK30 does not require a Foundations course.
The Foundations Course is a four-session prep course scheduled at the member’s convenience with one of their expert coaches. Each session is an hour-long and involves skill development and a workout. This is required for all new members that do not have prior CrossFit experience. Flatbush CrossFit’s Weightlifting Club offers a strong emphasis on proper mechanics and consistency to help each participant perform to their maximum potential. Training is tailored to each individual’s needs in order to challenge each person appropriately. This program is appropriate for beginners as well as advanced athletes.
