Monica, a very outgoing and dedicated person, came across the ketogenic diet through a friend. She saw her transformation and got interested in the lifestyle.
What is the Ketogenic diet, you asked?
“Ketogenic” is a term for a low-carb diet which is similar to the Atkins diet. The idea is for you to get more calories from protein and fat and less from carbohydrates. You cut back most of the carbs that are easy to digest, like sugar, soda, pastries, and white bread.”
During that time, Monica was morbidly obese for many years and she felt that it was time for her to get healthy and change her life around She shared her journey on her YouTube channel. Filmed Mukbang videos and shared her entire weight loss journey on YouTube.
Monica followed Keto living seriously and lost 150 pounds in just 18 months! A lot of people were amazed by her impressive transformation too, thus, she gained more followers. She and her family have almost 9000 followers on YouTube now!
She went from 295 pounds all the way down to 146 pounds. Monica says, "It has been an amazing journey."
She was able to beat diabetes, high cholesterol, and high triglycerides.
When asked about the setbacks she encountered during her weight loss journey, Monica is proud to say that she has not had experienced any setbacks and she believes that it's because she was very dedicated and focused during her entire journey. Monica added, "And when I know what I want I go after it and I accomplished a lot thanks to the ketogenic diet. I feel amazing."
Monica also shared some of her Keto go-to meals. She says they are always very basic and simple like eggs, and meats. She loves making a delicious bowl of Keto friendly chili and loves creating her own recipes.
When asked about the mistakes she commonly notices on other people when starting out on Keto, Monica responded, "I see a lot of people making mistakes on Keto because they believe that when they start off morbidly obese they need to eat tons of fat just because they say that Keto is a high-fat diet. What they fail to understand is that when you’re first starting out you have to use your own body fat as your energy source so that you could burn that fat quickly." A personal lesson that Monica is always willing to share.

- Like what I said, use your own body fat as your high-fat part of the diet at least until you’ve reached maintenance mode
- Stay focused and dedicated because ketogenic foods are so delicious and they give you so much energy that you won’t miss carbs and refined sugars.
- Keep it simple. When in doubt always go back to basics with meat and eggs. As close as possible to zero carbs as you could get you are going to get amazing results.
